Square Enix to release Final Fantasy 9 animation for kids

In addition to Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Episode 2, and the pixel remake Final Fantasy 1-6, Square Enix has not forgotten Final Fantasy 9, which was released on the PS platform in the millennium. According to foreign media reports, Cyber Group Studios has signed a joint development and production agreement with Square Enix to produce a new animation based on the Final Fantasy 9 game. Cyber Group Studios will produce the animation and handle global distribution, licensing, and peripheral products.

Founded in 2005, Cyber Group Studios is a French 3D animation creation company. Its core team members come from top companies such as BBC and Disney. Its works are mainly 3D cartoons for children.

According to foreign media Kidscreen, there is not enough information about the animated version of "Final Fantasy 9", but this animation, like other animation works of Cyber Group Studios, is also aimed at children aged 8-13. It is reported that the "Final Fantasy 9" animation will begin production at the end of 2021 or early 2022, and it is not yet certain when it will be on the big screen.

Compared with other series, the story and character settings of Final Fantasy 9 are more inclined towards younger age groups. I wonder if Square Enix will choose to release a new version of Final Fantasy 9 during the release of the animation?
