The Mortal Kombat movie is released in the US but not in the UK yet

The film was released in select theaters in the United States and is available online through the streaming service HBO Max.

Some were hoping that the Mortal Kombat movie would be released simultaneously in the UK, but this has so far failed to happen. This is quite surprising, as Warner Bros.' recent US releases have all been released in the UK at the same time.

Godzilla vs. Kong, for example, was available on a range of video-on-demand services in the UK, including Amazon Prime Video, Sky Store and iTunes, starting on April 1 - and became available to watch on HBO Max a day after it was released in select cinemas in the US.

Zack Snyder's Justice League was available for streaming in the UK through Sky Cinema/Now TV on the same day it was released on HBO Max in the United States.

Wonder Woman 1984 was released in select cinemas in the UK before its US theatrical release and on HBO Max. The film was later made available on Amazon Prime Video as a video-on-demand service.

So what happened to Mortal Kombat? A spokesperson for the film told Eurogamer this week that there are "no announced plans for a UK release at this time".
