"Alita: Battle Angel" director responds to sequel questions and thanks fans for their attention

Robert Rodriguez, the director of "Alita: Battle Angel", recently accepted an exclusive interview with foreign media Discussingfilm and responded to questions about the sequel to the "Alita" movie.

In the face of fans' eager anticipation for the sequel, Robert Rodriguez said: "Fans are still making efforts to tell people not to forget this movie they love. This is much better than making a good movie but being forgotten after 6 to 8 years. The first one has built a basic world view and attracted many audiences. If there is a sequel, it can also be expressed in a way that is easier for everyone to understand." Rodriguez had previously expressed his willingness to make a sequel to "Alita", but of course this depends on the intention of the film company, which is not something he can decide.

"Alita: Battle Angel" was released in February 2019, when the producer 20th Century Fox was being acquired by Disney (the acquisition was finally completed on March 20, 2019). Robert Rodriguez revealed that this also brought some problems to the distribution of "Alita", which was not the perfect time for the release of this movie.

Although there are hints about a sequel at the end of "Alita: Battle Angel", given that "Alita: Battle Angel" actually lost money at the box office, the industry generally speculates that the possibility of a sequel is unlikely.
