Rumor has it that Tom Cruise will play Iron Man in Doctor Strange 2

One of the most exciting adventures in the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the full expansion of the multiverse. After "Doctor Strange 1" briefly previewed this expansive new idea and "Avengers 4" showed time and space hijacking, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has planned to further develop the concept of the multiverse in "Doctor Strange 2".

Although plot details for Doctor Strange 2 have yet to be revealed, the name alone suggests an unprecedented adventure as the Sorcerer Supreme gains greater control over his powers and the use of the Time Stone.

According to industry insider Daniel RPK, Marvel Studios is considering using different guest characters to showcase multiple versions of Doctor Strange played by Benedict Cumberbatch in the 2022 film Doctor Strange 2: The Multiverse of Madness. Although nothing has been finalized yet, Daniel RPK mentioned Tom Cruise.

"I heard they are considering multiple cameos for different versions of the hero in Doctor Strange 2. One example I heard was that they were considering Tom Cruise to play Tony Stark from another Earth (Tom Cruise almost played Stark before Robert Downey Jr.)."

The potential roster for the Marvel Cinematic Universe has included some of Hollywood's best and biggest names over the years, and with so many characters out there, this could be the perfect opportunity for director Sam Raimi and Marvel Studios to completely open the floodgates in terms of cameos and new multiverse versions of MCU heroes. While fans are already excited for this movie, it now seems that almost no other Phase 4 movie will have as much buzz as this one over the next year and a half.
