Paramount to join the streaming wars and launch new platforms

Following Disney+, Warner's HBO Max, and Universal's Peacock, Paramount, one of the six major Hollywood studios, will also enter the streaming war. According to foreign media reports, ViacomCBS plans to reshape their streaming platform "CBS All Access" and rename it "Paramount+" at the beginning of next year, and will launch original content such as documentaries focusing on the behind-the-scenes production of the movie "The Godfather".

It is reported that in order to improve the competitiveness of Paramount+, ViacomCBS will significantly expand its content library. More than 30,000 episodes of programs owned by ViacomCBS's TV stations: BET, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, and Paramount's movies will also be included.

In terms of original content, there is a reboot of the TV series The Game, a documentary spin-off of Criminal Minds, True Criminal Minds, and a 10-episode documentary about the behind-the-scenes of The Godfather, The Offer, which focuses on the never-before-seen experiences of Albert S. Ruddy, one of the producers of The Godfather, during the filming, including his stories with director Francis Ford Coppola, producer Robert Evans, and screenwriter Mario Puzo.

CBS All Access was launched in 2014 and was one of the first American TV networks to launch an independent streaming service. It has broadcast dramas such as The Good Fight and Star Trek: Discovery. As of June this year, it has 16.2 million subscribers. Although the platform remodeling will not begin until next year, ViacomCBS has already begun to add Paramount movies such as the Mission: Impossible series and the Transformers series, live broadcasts of European football matches, and other content to CBS All Access.
