Uncle Sam, who is very familiar to old players, has finally been confirmed to return, but not through a new game developed by Ubisoft, but a CG animation produced by Netflix. According to Variety, Ubisoft has reached a cooperation with Netflix to produce two seasons of 16 episodes of the "Splinter Cell" animation. The animation is executive produced by Derek Kolstad, the scriptwriter of the "John Wick" series of movies. Although the launch of the Splinter Cell animation may disappoint many old fans of the series, considering that Ubisoft has begun to expand into more areas beyond games in recent years, such as the previous Prince of Persia movie and the long-announced adaptations of The Division and Skull and the Sea, it at least shows that Ubisoft has not abandoned the Splinter Cell IP. Perhaps after Netflix's Splinter Cell animation officially starts airing, Ubisoft will choose to launch a new series of games based on popularity. |
