Today (July 16), news spread online that "Detective Chinatown 3" will be released on August 14, 2020. In response, director Chen Sicheng directly refuted the rumor on Weibo, saying that the news was untrue.

On the Douban page, the release date of "Detective Chinatown 3" was once shown as August 14, 2020. At present, director Chen Sicheng directly stated on Weibo that the news was false. Afterwards, the official Weibo of "Detective Chinatown" reposted director Chen Sicheng's Weibo, but did not reveal more information.

The first and second parts of "Detective Chinatown" earned 818 million and 3.397 billion yuan respectively. "Detective Chinatown 3", which was originally scheduled to be released on the first day of the Chinese New Year this year, was withdrawn due to the epidemic, and the specific release date has not been officially announced yet.
