"The Wandering Earth" Director Guo Fan: I hope that investors and audiences will not leave the film industry

Today (May 20), the second "Golden Youth Film Award Ceremony was held in Wuxi. Three directors, Guo Fan (The Wandering Earth), Lu Yang (Knife of the Assassination, The Assassination of Novelist), and Rao Xiaozhi (The Unknown), spoke at the award ceremony, cheering up the film industry that has been hit by the epidemic, and also shouted to the audience and capital through the screen: Don't leave us.

In addition to money, we also have a sense of responsibility, and hope that capital can continue to support this industry. Our peers have all encountered more or less difficulties. Movies are not a whole like people, but especially like a snake. If any link is disconnected, the industry will no longer exist. I hope that all links can persist, and I hope that the audience will stick with us. I believe that we can create better works to reward the audience.

Lu Yang: We did not expect that this global event would have such a big impact on the film industry. In the process of moving forward, the original intention is the most important. Guo Fan told us some ideas about "The Wandering Earth 2", and we all think it is great and a huge leap forward. What drives him is definitely not the box office, but whether he has something new to express. We hope that the audience will not only have visual stimulation when watching movies, but also bring new thinking. The director will communicate with the audience in the movie what he wants to say most in an open and honest manner, and the audience can know what kind of person the director is by watching the movie. This is the happiness and responsibility of filmmakers. During the epidemic, we have been thinking about what we can do, so let's be hopeful.

Rao Xiaozhi: I think the theater industry has been in a cold winter, and it has been moving forward despite difficulties. In fact, there is no cold winter that cannot be overcome. Since the impact of the epidemic has already existed, I believe it will definitely pass. Lu Yang was embarrassed to advertise, so I helped him say that "Assassination of Novelist" will be released on New Year's Eve, and I hope that the Spring Festival period will be prosperous by then.
