Angry Birds to launch new animated series on Netflix in 2021

Today (March 26), Netflix officially announced that Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds, will cooperate with Netflix and independent entertainment company CAKE to launch a new animated series Angry Birds: Summer Madness. This animated series is inspired by the previously released Angry Birds movie and is expected to be broadcast globally in 2021.

Netflix said in the introduction that "Angry Birds: Summer Madness" is the latest result of the cooperation between CAKE and Rovio. This game will consist of 40 episodes of 11-minute short films. The storyline is based on the inspiration of the "Angry Birds" movie, and it will bring a brand new experience to all fans. Netflix will also help "Angry Birds: Summer Madness" to let more "small screen" audiences around the world feel the charm of this game.

The Angry Birds 2 movie was released in August 2019, but the box office of this game did not reach the expected level of Rovio. According to statistics from the DeadLine website, the revenue of the Angry Birds 2 movie was 16.2 million US dollars after 6 days of release, which was only one-third of the box office of the first movie in 2016. The performance did not meet the company's expectations.
