Weathering with You & Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba win! Tokyo Anime Awards annual awards announced

The organizing committee of the Tokyo Anime Award 2020, which recognizes outstanding works and individuals in the Japanese animation industry over the past year, announced today on February 6 that the highly anticipated annual animation (theatrical animation film and TV animation) awards were won by Weathering with You and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, respectively. In the Japanese animation industry in 2019, the animated film Weathering with You directed by Makoto Shinkai achieved great box office success and good reputation, setting a new record in film history; and Demon Slayer was hailed as the dark horse of the year in the TV animation industry, and its popularity has soared unstoppably. It is no surprise that both won the Tokyo Animation Award of the Year. The Tokyo Anime Awards 2020 awards ceremony and exhibition will be held in Ikebukuro, Tokyo from March 13th to 16th, so stay tuned. |
