National Treasure 3 and Bad Boys 4 are in development, but it's unclear if Cage will return

According to foreign media Hollywood Reporter, Disney is currently pre-producing the "National Treasure 3" movie. Chris Bremner, the screenwriter of "Bad Boys 3", is writing scripts for "National Treasure 3" and "Bad Boys 4". Hollywood gold medal producer Jerry Bruckheimer will serve as the producer of "National Treasure 3".

It is not clear whether Cage, the star of the first two "National Treasure" films, will return. In addition to Cage, the two films also star Diane Kruger, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel and other stars.

The two National Treasure movies grossed over $800 million worldwide, but the reboot of the third film was a bit bumpy. Bruckheimer confirmed that the third film was originally expected to happen in 2010, and a few years later, several screenwriters were hired for it. However, during this period, Disney Pictures had several box office flops, including Depp's The Lone Ranger (2013) and the poorly reviewed Johnny Blood (2013), which may have discouraged Disney from making a new National Treasure movie.

"National Treasure 2" was released in the United States in 2007 and in China on March 17, 2008, with a domestic box office of 73 million yuan.
