IGN's final review of Watchmen Season 1: 8.5 points: A close focus on black history

All 9 episodes of the first season of HBO x DC's original new world view TV series "Watchmen" have been aired. It currently has a Rotten Tomatoes freshness rating of 96% and a Douban score of 8.4. Today (December 31), IGN gave the first season of "Watchmen" a score of 8.5. IGN stated that as a sequel, the TV series "Watchmen" remixed the history of the entire IP, allowing "Watchmen" to continue successfully.

IGN: HBO's Watchmen is as good as the comic book, capturing our fractured political moment in the form of a twisted superhero saga. But while the show lacks the comic's visceral punch, it surpasses the book in several ways, including its focus on black history and emotional intimacy. While the show can't quite nail those things, it still won the year's best drama, another triumph for showrunner Damon Lindelof.
