According to Sina Film, Sony Pictures just released a statement through THR, officially announcing that Marvel Pictures and Kevin Feige will no longer produce a new Spider-Man movie. Sony said that there are many errors in the recent news about Feige and Spider-Man, but confirmed that Feige will no longer serve as the lead producer of the "next live-action Spider-Man movie". Sony said it was disappointed with Disney's decision, but expressed respect. Sony's statement said that there is hope for the future (the statement only mentioned "the next Spider-Man live-action movie", but the decision to stop cooperation was made by Disney), and emphasized that Spider-Man movies are its own IP: "We hope there will be changes in the future, but we also understand that Disney has given him (Feige) a lot of new responsibilities, including their newly acquired Marvel copyright, which leaves them with no time to spend on IP they don't own." Sony also thanked Feige for his efforts and guidance on the Spider-Man film series, "He helped us get on the right track, and we will continue." |
