'The Lion King' surpasses 'Frozen' to become Disney's highest-grossing animated film

According to foreign media CNET, Disney's latest "live-action version" of "The Lion King" is breaking various records. After surpassing the box office of the original 1994 version, the new version of "The Lion King" has now replaced "Frozen" and become Disney's best-selling animated film.

As of last weekend, The Lion King's global box office total was approximately $1.3 billion, surpassing Frozen's $1.2 billion.

The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Although realistic CG technology was used, some critics felt that this hindered the lion's emotional expression compared to the classic old version. Nevertheless, this did not affect the steady rise of The Lion King's box office.

Part of its success is due to its strong global box office performance since its release in early July. In North America, it still lags behind Incredibles 2 and Finding Dory.

The new version of "The Lion King" has a voice cast including Donald Glover, Beyonce Knowles, James Earl Jones and others. It tells the story of how the little lion king Simba, accompanied by many enthusiastic friends, finally defeated the evil Scar and became the king of the grassland.
