A live-action movie about the Japanese black samurai Yasuke is in preparation and he’s going to wreak havoc!

The Japanese black samurai Yasuke appeared in Netflix's animated adaptation "Yasuke" in 2021. Now, according to foreign media Variety, a live-action movie of Yasuke is also in preparation.

It is reported that Warner Bros. is preparing a live-action movie of "Samurai Yasuke", tentatively named "Black Samurai", which will be written and directed by Blitz Bazawule, the director of the new version of "The Color Purple".

The samurai Yasuke was a black retainer of the famous Japanese Warring States general Oda Nobunaga. According to the "History of the Japanese Church", he was an African slave brought to Japan from India by the missionary Varian, and was about 1.82 meters tall.

After making his debut in 2018 with "Kojo's Funeral", Ghanaian director Bazaule collaborated with Beyoncé to produce the music film "Black Is King". In 2023, he directed the highly anticipated film "The Color Purple".
