Beware of radiation! "Chernobyl" star expresses concern about the influx of internet celebrities into Chernobyl

According to foreign media reports, Jared Harris, the star of "Chernobyl", has been nominated for an Emmy for his outstanding performance in the five-episode HBO miniseries. It is reported that the miniseries has received a total of 19 nominations. "I'm excited. I'm glad that they have the same idea as me," Harris said in a telephone interview with BuzzFeed News.

In addition to celebrating his Best Actor nomination, Harris shared his thoughts on the tragic story and his thoughts on people using the disaster site as an Instagram photo-sharing platform.

“Adventure travel has been around for a while,” Harris said. “I think it was tapped into by so-called influencers on Instagram.”

Harris noted that it was interesting that some of the people taking photos at the sites of the nuclear disasters "appeared to be scantily clad."

"I just warned them to be careful because they seemed to be posing in some potentially dangerous positions."

Harris said it was safe for tourists to visit the plant and surrounding evacuation zones, but he was adamant that he personally would not do so.

“My wife wouldn’t be happy if I went there,” Harris said.

Harris said he was concerned about photos of people touching metal objects near the plant and also expressed concern about their health. "I mean, you see them sitting on metal swings, leaning on metal trucks. My understanding is that all of these things are still radiated. If it's metal, it will absorb the radiation and hold it, so they have to be careful."

Earlier, Craig Mazin, creator and screenwriter of "Chernobyl," urged all tourists who flock to the Chernobyl accident site to remember that a tragedy had occurred there, "and you have to respect all the people who suffered and sacrificed."
