In recent years, there have been rumors that Sam Raimi will direct the fourth Spider-Man movie and star Tobey Maguire. However, the director himself poured cold water on it in a recent interview. In an interview with CBR at WonderCon, Raimi acknowledged the rumors, but he doubted Marvel would be interested. Tom Holland's success as Spider-Man is likely a big factor in Marvel's current direction. Raimi admitted: "I do see it, but I'm not involved in the project right now. Marvel and Columbia Pictures are so successful with the current Spider-Man series that I'm not sure they would be willing to remake my version. They might not feel the need to tell the story again! To be honest, I don't know. But having said that, I've been loving all the new Spider-Man movies. No Home was awesome, and it's exciting to see Toby back again." Interestingly, Remy hasn't completely ruled out the possibility. However, it seems like it would take some major discussions for this to come to pass, especially since Remy has yet to speak to Maguire about a potential return. "Toby and I haven't discussed it yet, but perhaps Marvel or Columbia Pictures have. On a positive note, I recently worked with Marvel on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so our relationship is still strong. I'm sure I'll be notified if Spider-Man 4 is actually in the works. At least, I think that's the case." Rumors have been circulating for several years about Raimi directing and Maguire starring in Spider-Man 4. The last film from the creative duo, Spider-Man 3, was released in May 2007. Although it has been nearly 17 years since Maguire's Spider-Man last graced the silver screen, fans are understandably enthusiastic about a reunion. |
