Marvel's Captain Marvel grosses over $1 billion worldwide

Captain Marvel just passed a major box office milestone. The superhero movie, which was released in March, has surpassed $10 billion in cumulative global box office.

The North American box office was $358 million, and the international box office was $645 million, totaling $1.03 billion. This is the first movie with a female superhero as the protagonist to break the $1 billion box office milestone. DC's "Wonder Woman" has a global cumulative box office of $821 million.

"Captain Marvel" is also the seventh Marvel Universe movie to reach the $1 billion box office and the 18th $1 billion box office movie produced by Disney.

Other Marvel movies with a box office of $1 billion include: Avengers: Infinity War, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Black Panther, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War. The total box office of the 21 Marvel movies has exceeded $18.5 billion.

In Avengers 4, Brie Larson will continue to play Captain Marvel. Avengers 4: Endgame is expected to be released in mainland China on April 25.
