The release of The Wandering Earth, the masterpiece that opened the first year of Chinese science fiction films, has set off a viewing craze, with both word-of-mouth and box office success. It has now risen to second place in the mainland box office chart, with a cumulative box office of 4.1 billion yuan, second only to Wolf Warrior 2, and has also broken the box office record for Chinese films abroad. Today, China Digital Film Development Corporation officially announced that the release of The Wandering Earth will be postponed for two months, and ticket prices will be reduced nationwide.

According to a notice from China Digital Film Development Corporation, the first round of releases of The Wandering Earth has been postponed from February 5 to March 5, and the national release date has been postponed from March 6 to May 5. At the same time, the national ticket prices for 2D, 3D and IMAX versions of The Wandering Earth have been reduced by 10 yuan, starting from a minimum of 20 yuan.

"The Wandering Earth" is adapted from Liu Cixin's novel of the same name. The story of the film is set in 2075. It tells the story that the sun is about to be destroyed and is no longer suitable for human survival. Faced with desperation, humans will start the "Wandering Earth" plan, trying to escape the solar system with the Earth and find a new home for mankind.

"The Wandering Earth" was released in major theaters across the country on February 5, 2019, the first day of the Lunar New Year.
