2018 Mainland box office hits record, surpassing last year, with domestic films contributing over 60%

According to the comprehensive information of national movie ticketing, as of around 5:27 p.m. on November 25, the national movie box office in 2018 has exceeded the total box office of 55.911 billion yuan in 2017, setting a new record.

This result is more than 10% higher than the same period last year, with domestic films accounting for more than 60% of the box office. There were 73 films with box office revenues exceeding 100 million yuan, of which 39 were domestic films.

In the coming December, overseas films such as "Aquaman", "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse", "My Neighbor Totoro", and "The Grinch", as well as domestic films such as "Wulin Monster", "White Snake: Origin", and "The Last Night on Earth" will be released in a cluster, and are expected to set off another wave of popularity at the end of the year.
