According to Disney's Q1 financial report, the "Alien" movie directed by Fede Alvarez, the director of "Evil Dead" and "Don't Breathe", finally has an official name: "Alien: Romulus", and is currently scheduled to be released on August 16, 2024. According to Cailee Spaeny, the actress who plays the heroine in the film, the story of "Alien: Romulus" takes place between "Alien 1" and "Alien 2". The film invited the team that James Cameron filmed "Alien 2" that year. In an interview with foreign media Variety, Cailee Spaeny said: "They invited the same team directed by James Cameron in Alien 2. The same group of people who built the Alien came back to build our Alien. It’s incredible to see the original designs and see the people who have worked on these films for 45-plus years and who have brought these films to life.” The film is described as "an original independent feature film" that will focus on "a group of young people living on a distant planet." Spaeny stars alongside Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu. Fede Alvarez co-wrote the screenplay with Rodo Sayagues (Evil Dead). Ridley Scott is producing the film, which is the first film in the series to be distributed by Disney. |
