One of the core elements of the American TV series "Stranger Things" is the tabletop RPG "Dungeons & Dragons", which is adapted from the recent hit game "Baldur's Gate 3". All villains and supernatural phenomena in the series are named by the protagonists after monsters and places in "Dungeons & Dragons", and the characters in the series often play this board game. Therefore, some fans have speculated that the entire series is actually just a board game. In a recent interview with Metro, Stranger Things showrunners the Duffer brothers responded to the theory. They shot down the idea right away. Ross Duffer said: "That's the equivalent of saying 'it was all a dream.' No, I promise you, that's not how we're going to end the show. We already knew where we were going. We're happy with the direction; hopefully it's going to be satisfying for everybody." The Duffer brothers attended the premiere of Stranger Things prequel series First Shadow and explained what the show will be about. It will be set in London in 1959 and tells the story of the original villain Vecna, aka Henry Creel, as a young man. It may also hide clues for Season 5. |
