The new "Alien" movie was highly praised by director Lei and will be released in August 2024

The new Alien film directed by Fede Álvarez (Evil Dead 4, Don't Breathe) has received strong praise from the creator of the Alien film, Ridley Scott. The new Alien film will be released in 2024.

“I wanted him to see the movie before anybody else did, and everybody told me that Ridley was really harsh,” Álvarez said at the 2023 Directors Guild of America Latino Summit, according to Variety.

He’s really difficult, especially with his movies. He was really hard on Blade Runner 2049, which I think is a masterpiece, but he had issues with it because it was really hard for him because it’s his work.”

Scott, who helmed the beloved sci-fi franchise with the original 1979 film, and went on to direct the fifth feature, Alien: Prometheus, and the 2017 sequel, Alien: Covenant, watched the Fede Álvarez director's cut alone as a nervous Fede Álvarez waited nearby for his verdict.

"He walked into the room and said, 'Fede, what can I say? This is fucking amazing!' My family knows that it was one of the best moments of my life, and I have so much respect for a master like him that he even watched a movie I made, especially a movie like this... and talked to me for an hour about what he liked about the movie. One of the best compliments he said was, 'The dialogue is great. Did you write it?' Yes!"

The new Alien film, directed by Fede Álvarez, will begin filming in March 2023 and is scheduled to be released on August 16, 2024. The film will feature a new group of young characters who find themselves on a distant world, "confronting the most terrifying life forms in the universe."
