The Last of Us screenwriter removes credit on Borderlands movie

According to World of Reel, Craig Mazin, co-writer of the Borderlands film and best known for HBO's The Last of Us and Chernobyl, has removed his real name from the project and replaced it with the pseudonym "Joe Crombie."

The report also pointed out that many screenwriters including Aaron Berg, Oren Uziel, Juel Taylor, Tony Rettenmaier, Zak Olkewicz, Chris Bremner and Sam Levinson have written for the Borderlands movie, but this has not inspired people's confidence in the project.

The Borderlands movie project is in limbo. Earlier this year, after a 2022 preview failed, Deadpool director Tim Miller was set to oversee a reshoot. However, the plot synopsis of the reshoot received a less-than-ideal response.

Craig Mazin's decision to remove his name from the project could be a major blow to the project. He currently has two critically acclaimed series to his name, and may have been embarrassed by the quality of the Borderlands movie and didn't want his reputation to be tainted.
