According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon plans to build a Tomb Raider universe based on the Tomb Raider IP, covering upcoming new games and film and television projects. Amazon has reached a copyright deal with dj2 Entertainment to produce the Tomb Raider movie, TV series and game. dj2 is very active in adapting games into movies or TV series. They participated in the production of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and signed on to adapt Life is Strange and Disco Elysium. The overall deal for Tomb Raider is said to be one of Amazon's largest investments since The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings, which cost $250 million just for the copyright. Sources said Amazon's idea is to create a Tomb Raider universe that connects games, movies and TV series in a similar way to the Marvel Universe, including released and future works. The Tomb Raider TV series was written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, but she will not play any role. The new Tomb Raider game was developed by Crystal Dynamics and will be set in a modern world full of mysterious disasters.
