The HBO live-action series "The Last of Us", adapted from the famous game by Naughty Dog, has finally broken the curse of game adaptation. It has previously received a 97% freshness rating (media rating) on Rotten Tomatoes, and after its recent premiere, the live-action series "The Last of Us" received an opening score of 9.2 on Douban in China. The Last of Us is an American post-apocalyptic fantasy TV series adapted from the video game of the same name released by Naughty Dog in 2013. The Last of Us is the first HBO original series adapted from a video game, co-created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, and co-produced by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Naughty Dog, The Mighty Mint and Word Games. Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann also served as screenwriters, and the two served as executive producers along with Carolyn Strauss, Rose Lam, Ivan Wells, John Renk, Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan. The main filming started in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in July 2021 and was completed in June 2022. The Last of Us premiered on HBO on January 15, 2023, with a total of 10 episodes in the first season.
