Acclaimed British actor Idris Elba is set to return to one of his most iconic roles in the latest Netflix film, Luther: The Fall of the Sun. Netflix revealed today (January 13) that the new film will be available on the streaming platform on March 10 and will premiere in limited theaters on February 24. Luther is a British crime suspense drama that aired for five seasons between 2010 and 2019. Elba plays John Luther, a detective haunted by the psychological trauma of past cases. The plot synopsis of the movie "The Falling Sun" is as follows: "As a chilling serial killer terrorizes London, brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther lies behind bars. Haunted by his failure to catch the internet lunatic who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison and do whatever it takes to finish the job." The film will also include Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis, and Dermot Crowley (who will return as Detective Martin Schenk), though it currently appears that Ruth Wilson, who starred with Elba for most of the series, will not be returning. |
