According to The New Yorker, the budget for the first season of the American TV series The Last of Us has exceeded that of any of the first five seasons of Game of Thrones. The show was filmed in Calgary, Canada, and is the highest-budgeted television production in the country's history, exceeding $100 million. The series will be broadcast on HBO Max and the British Sky platform on January 15, 2023.

The series "The Last of Us" is adapted from the game of the same name by Naughty Dog Studio. It will be directed by Craig Mazan, producer of "Chernobyl", Caroline Strauss, producer of "Game of Thrones", and Neil, director of "The Last of Us 2".
