"One Piece Film Red" tops Japan's annual movie box office ranking

Japanese film website Eiga.com recently reported on the top ten films with the highest domestic box office revenue in 2022. The list and box office statistics are as of December 25th.

The list also includes the total revenue of movies released at the end of 2021, such as "Jujutsu Kaisen 0", which was released on December 24, 2021. When the list was announced last year, the revenue of "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" was not enough to make the top 10.

The domestic list includes 4 animated films, 1 live-action film based on a manga, and 1 special effects film. The total revenue of these four animated films was 52.36 billion yen. This is an increase of 88.1% over the revenue of the four animated films that entered the top 10 last year.

The top ten domestic movie box office rankings in Japan in 2022:

1. One Piece Film Red: 18.78 billion yen

2. Jujutsu Kaisen 0: 13.8 billion yen

3. "Suzuya's Journey": 10 billion yen

4. Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween: 9.78 billion yen

5. "Kingdom 2": 5.16 billion yen

6. "Shin Ultraman": 4.44 billion yen

7. "99.9: Criminal Lawyer": 3.01 billion yen

8. "10 Years to Live": 3 billion yen

9. "Silent Parade": 2.97 billion yen

10. The Confidence Man JP: Heroes: 2.89 billion yen

Last year, "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 You Are" topped the list with revenue of 10.28 billion yen.
