In a recent blog post, A Song of Ice and Fire author George RR Martin updated the status of future Game of Thrones projects and said that the future path of the IP will "definitely" be affected to some extent by the current turmoil at HBO Max. In his latest blog post, Martin said that in addition to the prequel "House of the Dragon" which has been renewed for a second season, "some spinoffs are being produced faster than others, as is always the case in the production process. None of them have been greenlit at this time, but we are hoping... maybe soon." He added that some spinoff projects have been "put on hold," but he doesn't think they've been canceled outright. "You can take things off the shelf just as easily as you can put them on the shelf," he said. “However, all the changes at HBO Max will inevitably have an impact on us.” |
