Nicolas Cage hopes to star in musical, possibly for National Treasure 3

Nicolas Cage has starred in many genres throughout his career, but he's never been in a musical. In a recent interview with Empire magazine, the actor discussed what kind of role he would play if he were to be in a musical.

"I haven't done a musical yet. I want to give it a try. I'm not a very good singer. I think I sang OK in Wild at Heart, but I also ruined my voice singing 'Purple Rain' the wrong way in karaoke after that," Cage said in the interview.

As for musicals and roles he'd like to be in, Cage said: "I think I'd be a pretty good Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar."

Top Gun: Maverick producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently revealed that he is working on a third installment in the National Treasure series. The news came while the producer was promoting the Disney+ spinoff series National Treasure: Edge of History.

"We said we wanted to make another National Treasure, and they said, 'Sure, let's work with a new cast,'" Bruckheimer said in an interview. "At the same time, we were making a National Treasure for Nicolas Cage that was going to be released in theaters - and we're still making it now."
