Steven Spielberg misses Gotham Awards speech due to coronavirus diagnosis

Famous Hollywood director Steven Spielberg has been diagnosed with COVID-19. The 75-year-old director missed plans to introduce actress Michelle Williams at the Gotham Awards ceremony in Manhattan today.

Actor Paul Dano, who co-stars with Williams in Spielberg's latest film, "Dream House," gave the introduction in the director's place and shared some of his own memories.

Michelle Williams has also been diagnosed with the virus.

Spielberg was infected during the 2022-23 film awards season, with many awards ceremonies set to be held in the near future. Spielberg's semi-autobiographical film "Dream House" was also released on November 11 and is chasing the crown of Best Picture.

But there is still some time before the all-important Oscar race. The deadline for Oscar nomination voting is January 17, and the final voting will not end until February 7. So he will still have a chance to promote his film.

Spielberg will receive a special tribute at the 73rd Berlin Film Festival in February next year, which will award him an honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement and screen several of his recent works, including "Dream House."
