"Moana" and "Bucky and the Surfer Boy" do have some similarities. For example, both are set in ancient Polynesia and tell the story of a young man going out to sea to save his hometown despite his family's opposition. In addition, both works have the design of the ancestral spirits transforming into animals. However, the jurors did not support Buck Udall's lawsuit, believing that Disney's creators had not read Buck Udall's works.
