Paramount to produce new Cloverfield movie

Paramount Pictures is developing a new Cloverfield movie.

According to Variety, the sci-fi anthology series is getting another installment, directed by Babak Anvari, the director of The Wound (2019), and written by Joe Barton, the director of Black Forest. Producers include JJ Abrams, Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen.

Cloverfield is a 2008 American pseudo-documentary monster horror film about a group of friends struggling to survive in a city attacked by a giant monster. "Cloverfield" was originally a codename for the film, but was later used as the film's title. The film was first released to the public in the pre-Transformers trailer, and distribution company Paramount Pictures launched a series of viral marketing campaigns for the film.

Director Dan Trachtenberg (Predator: Prey) returns with 10 Cloverfield Lane, which isn't a direct sequel to 2016's The Last Jedi, but tells an all-new story about Michelle, a young woman who wakes up in an underground bunker after a car accident and two men tell her that an unknown event has made the outside world uninhabitable.
