Playing Ghost Rider? Marvel boss wants Gosling to join the MCU

There are reports that Ryan Gosling wants to step into the superhero movie and play the new Ghost Rider. Coincidentally, Marvel boss Kevin Feige also hopes that he can join the MCU.

In June, Gosling denied rumors that he wanted to play Nova in an MCU project, but he said he would love to play Ghost Rider. At San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige was asked about this. Kevin didn't mention Ghost Rider specifically, but said he would be willing to let the "Drive" actor play in some way.

Kevin Feige told MTV News: "Ryan is amazing and I would love to find him a role in the Marvel Universe. He played Ken in Venice Beach and he got more press than any of the big movies that came out that weekend, which was pretty amazing."

Unfortunately, Ghost Rider was not among the many movies and TV shows announced at the San Diego Comic-Con, and Marvel has not explicitly mentioned that the character will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But considering that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding rapidly, it is not surprising that a Ghost Rider movie or TV project will eventually appear. However, we have seen before that The Walking Dead actor Daryl Reedus seems to be vying for the role.

Feige himself explained that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now open enough to include the character, saying: "You can talk about Ghost Rider, we have Blade, we have Doctor Strange, we have Supernatural."

Ghost Rider was originally a motorcycle stunt rider. In order to save his adoptive father who had cancer, he made a deal with the devil Mephisto and was possessed by the evil spirit Zatanos. He then became the Ghost Rider who avenged the innocent, with the power to control hellfire and the Eye of Judgment that can make sinners feel pain. Nicolas Cage has starred in two Ghost Rider movies.
