SARFT: Costumes in period dramas must be consistent with historical facts and resolutely resist sissy

According to the "Radio and Television Commentary" public account, on July 4, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television held a symposium on TV drama creation, with more than 20 TV drama production organizations and relevant persons in charge of some radio, film and television bureaus and TV stations attending the meeting.

Zhu Yonglei, deputy director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, stressed at the meeting that we must strengthen our cultural confidence and inherit Chinese civilization. The art of costume dramas must truly restore the basic styles and features of the architecture, clothing, accessories, makeup, etc. of the historical period involved, and must not arbitrarily adapt or imitate foreign styles.

We must adhere to a healthy aesthetic taste that is fresh, simple, vigorous and powerful, and resolutely resist morbid plastic surgery, sissy aesthetics, excessive makeup and excessive use of filters.

We must carefully control the selection of actors, strengthen performance guidance, and use the standard of acting skills and image and temperament to suit the role and plot, and oppose selecting actors based on "traffic" as the standard.

We must resolutely resist the practice of falsifying ratings, establish a standardized and orderly mechanism for the use of TV drama ratings data, and maintain a good market order and industry ecology.

Xie Ying, vice president of Youku and general manager of the drama center, said in his speech that the platform will establish a normalized institutional mechanism to strictly control the costumes and props of each drama.
