Joaquin Phoenix says Nolan asked him to play the role of the Joker in The Dark Knight

"Joker 2: Double Delusion", starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, broke the global box office of 200 million US dollars after its release, but the reputation of the film is far inferior to the first "Joker" movie.

Recently, Joaquin Phoenix revealed on the YouTube talk show "Tetragrammaton with Rick Rubin" that Christopher Nolan had actually invited him to play the role of the Joker during the filming of "Batman: The Dark Knight".

According to Joaquin Phoenix: "I talked to Chris Nolan about The Dark Knight, but for whatever reason, that didn't happen. I wasn't ready at the time... I can't imagine not having Heath Ledger in that movie, right?"

Although Joaquin Phoenix did not clearly point out whether he was not ready or Nolan thought he was not ready, the result shows that the Joker played by Heath Ledger has indeed become an unsurpassed classic on the big screen. Joaquin Phoenix also successfully created another memorable Joker image in the movie "Joker".
