Will Smith returns to I Am Legend 2

Will Smith will finally become a legend once again.

Warner Bros. is preparing to release a sequel to the 2007 film I Am Legend, co-starring Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan, Deadline reports. Plot details are being kept under wraps for now, but the film marks the first time Smith and Jordan have worked together as both stars and producers.

I Am Legend 2 is written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, Fringe, I Am Legend). I Am Legend is based on the 1954 novel of the same name by Richard Matheson, which helped popularize the post-apocalyptic genre.

At present, the director and release date of "I Am Legend 2" have not been finalized.

In I Am Legend, Will Smith plays a U.S. Army virologist who lives alone in a post-apocalyptic New York City. Three years ago, a cure for a measles virus turned deadly, allegedly infecting 99% of humanity. Will Smith struggled to survive and developed a cure for those infected, who have been transformed into pale-skinned beasts with features of vampires and zombies.
