Amazon acquires exclusive streaming rights for Jurassic World 3 and other films

Amazon announced that its Prime Video and IMDb TV have signed a multi-year exclusive streaming rights for movies with Universal Pictures, which will officially start in 2022. According to Deadline, this is the first time Amazon has signed such an agreement with a major American film company.

However, the so-called "exclusive broadcast rights" are a bit complicated. Specifically, Amazon signed a 10-month pay-one broadcast period after the movie was removed from the theaters, and the first and last four months. That is to say, Universal Pictures has also signed an agreement with Netflix to authorize its Illumination and DreamWorks animated films to be broadcast on the platform. According to Deadline, Netflix's agreement with Universal will also be changed to a pay-one arrangement next year, and Prime Video will be available later.

As for the free-to-air IMDb TV, it will obtain the broadcasting rights to Universal Pictures' 2020-2021 films and some older works, including "The Invisible Man," "Despicable Me 2," "How to Train Your Dragon 2" and "Shrek the Monsters."
