The Lord of the Rings will be re-released in IMAX in North America on February 5

2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of The Lord of the Rings. IMAX recently announced that the trilogy will begin on February 5, with the 4K version recently supervised by Peter Jackson landing in North American theaters. The three-part series will be released in 178/179/201 minutes respectively, and rated PG-13. The 4K Blu-ray box set of the trilogy is also on sale, directed by Peter Jackson himself.

The Lord of the Rings film series tells the story of how the Dark Lord Sauron forged a One Ring with supreme power thousands of years ago. Later, the ring fell into the hands of the innocent boy Frodo. Frodo resisted the temptation of the ring and finally went to Mount Doom to destroy the ring with the help of his friends.

The series of films has won 351 international awards and 284 nominations, including 17 Academy Awards. Among them, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King won 11 Academy Awards, tied with Ben-Hur and Titanic to become the most awarded film in the history of Oscars.
