The live-action movie "Monster Hunter" was released in the United States on December 18th local time. According to Box Office Mojo statistics, the film earned 2.2 million US dollars in the past weekend (two days), pushing the film's global total box office to 7 million US dollars.

Capcom's Monster Hunter series of games has sold more than 65 million copies in total, and the latest game, Monster Hunter: World, is Capcom's best-selling game ever, with sales of more than 16.4 million copies.

The film directed by Paul Anderson was first released in the Netherlands on December 3, and has grossed $4.8 million overseas so far.

Compared to other game-adapted movies released this year, Monster Hunter did not have an ideal start. Sonic the Hedgehog earned $57 million in its first week in the United States, and more than $210 million in 10 days, making it the most successful game-adapted movie in history.

Of course, the box office of "Sonic the Hedgehog" was not affected by the new coronavirus at the time.
