Whitney Houston biopic cast confirmed

The biopic "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", a biopic about the late queen singer Whitney Houston, has chosen the lead actress: Naomi Ackie ("Star Wars 9", "Fuck the World") will play Whitney Houston.

The film was written and produced by Anthony McCarten, the screenwriter of "Bohemian Rhapsody", "The Theory of Everything" and "Darkest Hour", and directed by Stella Meghie, the director of "Love Photo" and "Everything and Everything". It has been approved by Houston's estate committee and is described as "a joyful, emotional and heartbreaking celebration of the life and music of the greatest R&B female singer in history, depicting her journey from obscurity to superstardom".

Sony and its subsidiary Samsung Pictures have acquired the film and plan to release it in North America during Thanksgiving 2022 in theaters.
