The Wandering Earth is directed by Guo Fan and stars Wu Jing, Qu Chuxiao, Li Guangjie, Ng Man-tat, Zhao Jinmai, etc. The original version was released during the 2019 Spring Festival and earned 4.686 billion yuan at the box office, ranking third in China's box office history. The Wandering Earth Leap: 2020 Special Edition selected 11 minutes of footage from green screen materials without special effects and re-edited it.
