Recently, the new film "Minamata Disease", adapted from real history and starring Johnny Depp, was scheduled to be released in North America on February 5, 2021. It is reported that the film will be available on video on demand on the same day of its premiere in theaters.

In this new film directed by Andrew Levitas, Depp plays the famous American photographer Eugene Smith.

"Minamata Disease" is adapted from a book written by Eugene Smith and his wife. In the 1970s, Japan broke out in the strange disease "Minamata Disease" caused by mercury pollution. Depp's character Eugene was commissioned to come to Japan to record this strange disease.

In addition to Depp, the film's starring actors also include Bill Nighy, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Minami, Ryo Kase, and Hayabusa Kunimura.
