Downey wants to create a Sherlock Holmes universe or a spin-off series

According to foreign media Fast Company, Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey and their producing partners recently talked about the idea of ​​creating a suspense-themed film and television universe around "Sherlock Holmes" at an event, just like the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Downey starred.

"Sherlock Holmes 3" is currently in development, and Downey said he wants to expand the film series: "Right now, I don't think there is a 'suspense universe' anywhere. Conan Doyle is a decisive existence in that field. If you can't derive some diversity about other eras and elements, then why make a third "Sherlock Holmes" movie? We don't like to do the same thing, we don't want to do something that already exists."

Susan Downey said that there might be a spin-off series of the movie: "For example, the derivative characters of the third movie, to see if we can do something in the field of television, such as what we can do with HBO and HBO Max under Warner Media Group."

The Downeys previously collaborated with HBO on the detective drama "Mason Mysteries", which has been renewed for a second season. They also said that they experienced the process of creating a "universe" from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Downey Jr. said it was "like taking a master class" and gained a lot of experience. However, Susan Downey also said that she knew that "Marvel was not built in a day" and that the Sherlock Holmes universe they want to create now is also a very grand plan that requires a lot of effort.
