Trying to bring a family-friendly version of the Sherlock Holmes story with a feminist twist, Miss Holmes offers a teenage heroine who complains about corsets and solves puzzles like a genius! Miss Holmes is a spirited film starring Millie Bobby Brown (11), with a brisk pace, colorful costumes, lively editing, and sparky stunts. For kids, it can be exciting fun. For parents, it's just a carefree diversion. Still, it's a shame that the filmmakers didn't go for something richer or more challenging. In the end, Miss Holmes' lack of depth suggests that the production team didn't think their audience was smart enough to crave something deeper.
