Inside Out 2 surpasses Dune 2 to become the highest-grossing film of the year

Following its $154.4 million debut last weekend, Inside Out 2 is expected to add $100 million to its box office this weekend, becoming the seventh film to reach that milestone in its second week of release. Now, Inside Out 2 has officially surpassed Dune 2 to become the highest-grossing film of 2024.

According to DEADLINE, Inside Out 2 grossed $355 million in the U.S. and $724 million worldwide, compared to Dune 2 which grossed $282 million in the U.S. and $711 million worldwide.

Bad Boys for Life continued to perform well, ranking second in its third weekend with $18.7 million, bringing its total to $146.9 million. Rise of the Planet of the Apes ranked fourth near the end of its second month with $3.7 million, bringing its total to $164.4 million. The Garfield Movie added another $3.6 million to round out the top five, bringing its total to $85.1 million.
