The live-action movie of "Yowamushi Pedal", a famous manga about bicycle racing based on the work of Japanese manga artist Watanabe Wataru, is scheduled to be released on August 14. Yowamushi Pedal tells the story of the protagonist Onoda Sakamichi, a freshman at Chiba Prefecture Sohoku High School, who is an otaku who loves animation, games and Akihabara. He originally planned to join the animation research club after entering high school. However, he later met Imaizumi Shunsuke, who was also a freshman and was active in major bicycle competitions in junior high school. One day during training, he saw Onoda Sakamichi riding a bicycle up a steep slope, and his belief was shaken.

It has been confirmed that the male protagonist Onoda Sakamichi will be played by Nagase Ren for the live-action movie of "Yowamushi Pedal"; Imaizumi Shunsuke will be played by Ito Kentaro; and the female protagonist Kansaki Kan will be played by the national goddess Kanna Hashimoto.

The six new characters are: Naruko Shokichi, who is known as the "Naniwa Fastman", is played by Bando Ryuta, Sohoku High School Cycling Club Captain Kaneshiro is played by Ryusei, Kanero's classmate Makishima Yusuke is played by Yanagi Shuntaro, Tadokoro Jin, who has the nickname "Naniwa Train", is played by Sugawara Ken, first-year Sugimoto Terufumi is played by Inoue Mizuki, and Kaneshiro's father Kaneshiro Koji is played by Minagawa Sarutoki.
