The original work of "The Melancholy of Haruka Utsusemi" is a four-frame comic about high school student council by Japanese manga artist Tozen Ujiie. The first season of the TV animation was broadcast from July 3 to September 25, 2010, and the second season was broadcast from January 4 to March 29, 2014. The first movie was released on July 21, 2017, and the second movie was announced on December 6, 2019, which is scheduled to be released on July 10, 2020.
