Can the classic continue? The sequel of "Shaolin Temple" starring Jet Li has been revealed

"Shaolin Temple", released in 1982, is a legend in Chinese film history. With a ticket price of 0.1-0.3 yuan per ticket, it earned 140 million yuan at the box office and attracted 500 million viewers.

After 38 years, the sequel to "Shaolin Temple" has arrived.

We recently learned from the official that the National Film Administration released a filing and project approval notice for January 2020 (early and mid-January). The film "Shaolin Temple 2" written by Wu Siyuan and Huang Haohua was successfully approved and agreed to be filmed.

According to the synopsis, the film tells the story of "In 1892, the Sino-Japanese War was about to break out! Chu San was an orphan who worked as a laborer in Shaolin Temple and suffered from bullying. He hoped to become a monk but failed. However, his adoptive father in the temple secretly taught him unique martial arts. He was sent to Ryukyu by Li Hongzhang to rescue the kidnapped Chinese students studying in the United States, but Japan sent ninjas to kill them. He finally completed the mission and regained his prominent identity, and successfully became a monk."

In fact, as early as the 21st Shanghai International Film Festival in 2018, Wu Siyuan said that "Shaolin Temple 2" would hold a nationwide audition to find the most suitable male lead. When talking about the criteria, he clearly said: "First, the martial arts must be good, the best of the best; second, young; third, this person must give people the impression of being upright, having good character, and being honest."
